Kaye was George Washington at their Ball for 10 years. He was a Charter and Life member of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge and served as Honorary Board Member at Large for 20 years. Kaye was also interested in the Oral School for the Deaf children, and chaired two of their most successful fund raising Balls. He was chairman of the commissioning of the Navy League Missile Ship and the Leyte Gulf. Kaye was vitally interested in and chaired the Annual Ball for 8 years. He loved the Club and his many friends there, and he will be greatly missed! Navy League was an organization in which Mr. Kaye worked tirelessly for years on the Club's Entertainment and other Special Events Committees. He was elected Commodore of Coral Ridge Yacht Club in 1972, and chaired the Club's 25th Anniversary celebration in 1972 which was attended by the NATO Fleet, and the Club's 50th Anniversary weekend in 1997. Kaye received plaques fondly naming him the "Mayor of Coral Ridge". He was recognized for his complete dedication and tireless leadership as President of the Coral Ridge Homeowners and was awarded a Lifetime membership and Directorship in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in zoning, traffic control and neighborhood improvements. Kaye was also awarded a Special Plaque by the City Commission for outstanding services and dedication when he retired from the City Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment after serving them from 1977 -1990. Clay Shaw presented him with a Key to the City. ![]() He was a conscientious and hard working volunteer member of many Boards for the City of Ft. Kaye is survived and deeply loved by his wife of 51 years, Harriet Kemp Kaye, and older brothers, Joseph and Stephen of Chicago, ILL. Barnes of Las Vegas, NE one daughter, Barbara Reynolds of Pompano Bch, FL 11 grandchildren 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Barnes was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 1996 and is survived by two sons, Walter E. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, FL and the Pompano Beach Coast Guard Auxiliary.
